Alan James Robinson has been a flyfisherman and flytyer for over 32 years and has visited over 45 hunting and fishing Lodges all over the world. He had a permanent campsite at Schoolhouse Pool on the famed Beaverkill River for 10 years, 1969-79. He has spent 17 summers fishing the fabled waters of Montana, Idaho, Wyoming and Colorado. Alan has visited Alaska 7 times, Canada many times, Europe, South America, Central America, the Carribean, the Bahamas, Tasmania, Australia, New Zealand and most recently Africa.

He is the owner, designer and illustrator for the award-winning Press of the Sea Turtle, which he established in 1979. The Press carries a full line of his fishing stationery, notecards and prints and has published 27 limited edition books, including TROUT-Brook, Brown and Rainbow, ATLANTIC SALMON, TROUT & BASS and his newly released SALTWATER GRAND SLAM. He has licensed illustrations to many magazines and book publishers, including: Disney, Knopf, San Francisco Chronicle, Doubleday, Moyer Bell, North Point Press, Univ. of Illinois Press, Safari Press, Lyons Press, Fly Rod and Reel, Sporting Classics, and Wild Steelhead and Atlantic Salmon.

Alan is a member of The Society of Animal Artists, Coastal Conservation Association, American Booksellers Association, The American Museum of Fly Fishing, Atlantic Salmon Federation, Bass Anglers Sportsmans Society, Defenders of Wildlife, Ducks Unlimited, Environmental Defense Fund, Federation of Fly Fishers, International Game Fish Association, Trout Unlimited, The Nature Conservancy, National Audobon Society, National Geographic Society, Smithsonian Museum Member, and The World Wildlife Fund.
